The end of the year held a great victory for poker lovers. On Thursday (22), the modality was officially recognized as a sport by the International Mind Sports Association (IMSA).
After decades of work, poker has finally been recognized as a mind sport and is on the same level as chess, bridge, checkers and others. Thus, the noblest of card games is now on the same level as activities such as chess, bridge, checkers, go, among others.
After more than a decade of intense work and development of the activity, the seal was received by the World Poker Federation (WPF), a body created by the CBTH (Brazilian Confederation of Texas Hold’em), the Argentine Poker Federation (Argentine Institute of Sports Poker) and the Pan-American Confederation of Sports Poker (CPPD) to represent poker before the IMSA.
