Colombian Poker Circuit Begins with Historic Stop

From August 14 to 17, Barranquilla became the stage for a decisive moment in Colombian poker. The city hosted the first stop of the 2025 Colombian Poker Circuit, organized by the Colombian Poker Federation (FCP), turning into the epicenter of mind sports in the country.

A total of 246 athletes came together in a vibrant environment, arriving from different regions of Colombia and from countries such as Brazil, Peru, the United States, Mexico, Spain, and France. This diversity of voices and playing styles gave the tournament a truly international dimension, reflecting the place that Colombia is beginning to claim on the global poker map.

The presence of the Colombian Olympic Committee reinforced the institutional weight of the event and demonstrated that the FCP not only organizes competitions but also plays a fundamental role in legitimizing and strengthening poker as a sport. This recognition shows that Colombia is moving toward consolidating poker within its national sports structure, following the same path taken by other countries and federations worldwide.

Beyond the tables, the impact was also felt in the community. The Barranquilla stop generated direct benefits for local tourism, hospitality, transportation, gastronomy, and created jobs in areas such as staff, dealers, and audiovisual production. It was a clear reminder that poker, in addition to being a sport, is also a driver of economic and social development.

On the competitive side, the tournament days were filled with memorable moments. The High Roller, won by Daniela Rodríguez, highlighted the rising role of women in Colombian poker. The introduction of the electronic Mystery Bounty, a first-time innovation by the organizers, added excitement and was very well received by the players. The Main Event final table, played out amid applause and great emotion, was the perfect synthesis of a stage that will not be forgotten.

The Circuit’s impact went far beyond Barranquilla. With official coverage by Código Poker, national media attention, and strong engagement across digital platforms, the tournament showed the communication power of poker and projected Colombia as a new regional reference.

The Colombian Poker Circuit begins its 2025 season with impressive numbers, innovation, and strong institutional legitimacy. And above all, it carries the mark of the Colombian Poker Federation, a pillar of the sport’s growth in the country and an active member of the World Poker Federation (WPF), which works to unite national federations under a single global structure for the development of poker.

For Colombian poker, the Barranquilla stage was more than just an opening. It was a milestone, a turning point that demonstrates how poker can flourish when treated with seriousness, organization, and vision for the future.
