About FCP

The Colombian Poker Federation (FCP) was founded in response to the international recognition of poker as a mind sport by the International Mind Sports Association (IMSA), a status also endorsed in Colombia by the Ministry of Sport and the Colombian Olympic Committee. Its creation was formalized during the Constitutive Assembly held on February 15, 2025, in Valledupar, with the participation of representatives from the departmental leagues of Atlántico, Bolívar, and Cesar, as well as other regional and academic stakeholders.

From the outset, the FCP has aimed to regulate, promote, and professionalize poker as a discipline that strengthens essential cognitive skills such as strategic thinking, decision-making under pressure, and emotional intelligence. In just a few months, it has established its presence in eleven departments and is now projecting expansion to all 32 regions of the country. This process has been accompanied by a comprehensive approach that integrates educational, competitive, business, and cultural aspects, enabling the inclusion of poker in events within the Olympic cycle, such as the National Games, Intercollegiate Games, and ASCUN Sports.

The FCP is driving a strategic plan that includes the training of referees and coaches, the organization of national and international tournaments, partnerships with the private and academic sectors, and a youth and social development agenda. With this vision, the Federation seeks to position Colombia as a Latin American benchmark in the development of poker as a mind sport, demonstrating its value as an educational, economic, and social transformation tool.
