Chaired by Igor Trafane, the World Poker Federation (WPF) was born with the approval of the International Mind Sport Association (IMSA), which positions this discipline on a par with other sports such as chess.
December 22, 2022 will forever be marked in the history of Brazilian and world poker as the day in which the activity was officially recognized as a sport by the International Mind Sport Association (IMSA) , which positions poker as a mental sport just like chess, bridge, checkers and go, among others.
After more than a decade of intense work and development of the activity, the seal was obtained by the World Poker Federation (WPF) , an organization created by the CBTH (Confederação Brasileira de Texas Hold’em) , by the Argentine Poker Federation (Instituto Argentino de Poker Desportivo chaired by Luis Losada 
) and by the Pan-American Confederation of Sports Poker (CPPD) to represent poker in the IMSA
