Created by PokerStars Team Pros Rafael Moraes and Lali Tournier, the Half and Half tournament was one of the biggest news of the BSOP Millions 2023.
The event had a very simple premise: the number of male and female participants must be equal. With this, he aimed to encourage even more women to participate in poker tournaments.
“I had the idea inspired by the Entrepreneurs’ Tournament”, said Lali. “The cool thing is that if a guy wants to play, he will make a greater effort to bring a woman, be it a wife, girlfriend, friend, etc.”
It is worth mentioning that it was not a doubles tournament, thus, for a man to register, a woman needed to register together and vice versa, with everyone playing the competition individually.
The tournament was a great success with a field of 112 participants. When the competition ended, Samara Brito climbed to the highest place on the podium, winning her first champion trophy at the festival.
“The BSOP Millions is very special, even for those who are just watching, like I was, imagine being champion”, said Samara. Surrounded by a lively crowd, the player beat Mariana Moraes, sister of Rafael Moraes, heads-up.
