The best news in recent years has arrived from Sao Paulo: the International Mind Sports Association (IMSA) has officially added poker to its list of mind sports and now the scenario has changed completely.

This weekend will go down in history. From the BSOP Millions in Sao Paulo came the most shocking news that the industry has received in recent years: poker has been definitively declared a mental sport .
The final approval came from the International Mind Sports Association (IMSA) and in this path much (or everything) had to do with the World Poker Federation that was born in Brazil and that came to give the final form to a struggle of more than 20 years .
The WPF, which brings together federations from more than 45 countries, worked tirelessly to achieve this feat, which its Federal Resident Igor Trafane
, CEO Leonardo Cavarge
and Marketing Director Roberto Lifschitz
are now celebrating in an exclusive conversation with CodigoPoker.
-First of all, what does it mean that poker has been recognized as a mental sport?
-Igor: This recognition represents a new era for poker globally. It means the opening of markets and the possibility of expanding the sport with a solid and regulated structure. Now, poker is legitimized worldwide, allowing new countries to see the game from a mental sport perspective, providing more opportunities and security for athletes and organizations.
