Taipei, Taiwan. This October, Taipei becomes the center of competitive poker in Asia, as the Taiwan Millions Tournament Championship (TMTC 2026) and the World Poker Federation (WPF) come together for a week of events at Asia Poker Arena.
Running from October 16 to 26, TMTC 2026 is the most ambitious edition in the festival’s history: 35 scheduled events, a combined NT$48 million in guaranteed prize pools and a NT$30 million Main Event guarantee, the largest ever offered at a TMT championship. Beyond the numbers, this year’s festival carries a distinct significance. Three WPF-sanctioned events run inside the TMTC calendar, turning a major national series into one of the most concentrated weeks of international poker activity in Asia this year.
Three Events, One Shared Purpose

Last year in Taipei. The first WPF Ladies Weekend, in October 2025, brought together more than 1,500 players and 2,200 entries across 10 nations. Taiwan hosted around 120 entries, and the Taipei stop welcomed Japan’s Shiina Okamoto, two-time WSOP Ladies Champion (2024 and 2025), who joined local players at Asia Poker Arena.

October 20: The Poker TDA + WPF Continental Summit, Asian Edition

How the first edition went. The first Asian Edition took place on July 21, 2025, also at Asia Poker Arena. More than 70 tournament directors, industry leaders and local experts from across Asia discussed over 25 topics, including shot clocks, disruptive behavior, re-entry formats, electronic devices at the table and late registration. The live stream peaked at more than 1,300 viewers.
This summit was just the beginning. We’re seeing a real desire for collaboration and standardization in tournament operations, and the response from attendees shows we’re moving in the right direction.

October 20: 2026 WPF Asian Nations Cup
Eleven national and regional teams, Chinese Taipei, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Macau and Mongolia, will compete for individual results and for national pride, in a tournament sanctioned by the WPF and hosted by APSA. The Nations Cup also has direct support from APT, APL and TMTC, which together are contributing prize pools and Main Event tickets.
Looking back at 2025. The inaugural WPF Asian Nations Cup was played at Asia Poker Arena from October 21 to 23, 2025, with eight national teams. Across three days of heads-up matches, multi-table and single-table tournaments, the Philippines won the team title with 60 points, one ahead of Korea (59) and two ahead of Thailand (58). Host nation Chinese Taipei had the top male individual player, Jason Cheng, with 51 points, and Japan’s Mami Taira was the top female player with 40.5 points. This year the field grows from eight teams to eleven, with Vietnam, Macau and Mongolia joining.

A Convergence With Purpose
What makes this October unique is not only the density of events, but the way they reinforce one another. The Ladies Weekend opens the week by spotlighting the growing presence of women in the game. Days later, the Continental Summit brings the people who set the rules of competitive poker to the same table as the players shaping its future, while the Asian Nations Cup turns individual skill into national representation. Each event feeds into the next, and all of them lead back to the same stage: the TMTC Main Event, running October 22 to 26.
For the WPF, the choice of Taipei is no coincidence. Taiwan has spent the past year building one of Asia’s most active poker communities, a trajectory underscored by TMT20, held earlier in 2026, which drew a record 9,094 entries and crowned the first woman in the festival’s 20-edition history to win a TMT highlight event. The TMTC Main Event is organized by the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP), the WPF member in Chinese Taipei. Bringing the Ladies Weekend, the Continental Summit and the Asian Nations Cup to the same city, in the same week as TMTC’s biggest championship yet, positions Taipei as a proving ground for what the WPF has been building across the region: a poker ecosystem where women’s poker, tournament governance and national competition grow together.
