South Africa Stop

Founded in 2024, the Cape Town Poker Sports Association stands as the first formalised poker sports body in South Africa. The Association is an active member of both the Cape Town Sports Council and the World Poker Federation, reinforcing its commitment to the recognition and development of poker as a mind sport.

Currently, it serves as the umbrella organisation for five clubs in Cape Town, where more than 800 players compete on a monthly basis. The mission of the Cape Town Poker Sports Association is to provide a responsible, enjoyable, and safe platform for players to engage in club-level poker events, while supporting affiliated clubs to ensure high-quality service and long-term sustainability.

With ambitions to expand into other major cities across South Africa, the Association envisions its evolution into both a national and, ultimately, a continental body in the near future.
