Kathy Yeung is a poker industry entrepreneur and advocate dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion within the game.

She is the founder of the Hong Kong Women’s Poker Association, the first official organization of its kind in Asia dedicated to empowering women through poker. In addition, she is the Co-Founder of the Hong Kong Poker Tour – Since 2007 (HKPT), a pioneering tournament series in Hong Kong for more than 18 years, through which she has been actively operating and growing the local poker community for over a decade.

One of the most significant milestones in her career was orchestrating a landmark event where poker was brought into the Hong Kong Olympic House. This achievement stands as a pivotal, global moment for poker, recognizing its strategic and competitive nature on a prestigious platform.

Her driving passion is to create a welcoming and supportive environment that encourages more women to join the poker community. She firmly believes that with the right training, mentorship, and opportunities, women can not only compete but also excel and become formidable forces at the poker table. Through her work, she is committed to leveling the playing field and fostering a new generation of confident, skilled female players who can stand tall in this arena.

What is the importance of poker in your life?
“Poker has been a transformative force in my life, not only as a career but as a platform to inspire change. Through poker, I found a way to build communities, create opportunities, and promote diversity within an industry I deeply care about. It has allowed me to champion causes that matter to me, such as empowerment, inclusion, and mentorship, while also shaping a space where people—especially women—can grow in confidence, skill, and leadership.”

In your opinion, what is the importance of the Women’s Committee?
“The Women’s Committee represents a historic and powerful step forward for our community. It provides a united platform for federations and leaders around the world to collaborate in creating equal opportunities for women in poker. By supporting education, mentorship, and visibility, the Committee not only encourages more women to join the game but also ensures they have the tools to succeed and excel. Its importance lies in fostering an inclusive environment where women can stand as role models, paving the way for a stronger, more diverse, and balanced future for poker.”
