Early life: from Magic: The Gathering to poker
Kenney grew up in Long Beach, New York, the eldest of five siblings. He discovered Magic: The Gathering at 12, at a family picnic, and by 14 he was ranked No. 1 in the world for players aged 15 and under. [3]
He told PokerNews that David Williams, a former Magic player, finishing second in the 2004 WSOP Main Event convinced him and many of his Magic rivals that poker was worth trying. After high school he planned to get a real estate license and work in his grandmother’s office, but she died a week before his exam and he never took the test. He moved in with his grandfather and started playing poker online every day. [3]
There is no primary source for his exact date of birth: Wikipedia and Wikidata give different dates in 1986. A Card Player article published in September 2019 described him as “the 32-year-old poker pro”. [12]
Beginning in poker
Kenney started as an online grinder and was then staked to play at the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles, where, according to PokerNews, he turned $20,000 into $1 million in just over a month. [1] His recorded live cashes date back to 2007. [15] He reached his first WSOP final table in 2009, finished 28th in the 2010 WSOP Main Event for $255,242, and placed third in the 2011 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) $100,000 Super High Roller for $643,000. [1]
Playing style
Kenney’s biggest results have come in No-Limit Hold’em high roller events, but his WSOP record shows range beyond it: his first bracelet came in a six-handed 10-Game Mix, and in 2023 he finished second in the $10,000 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship for $213,027, beaten heads-up by Ryan Miller. [4][5][13] In his own account, his approach rests on volume and goal-setting: he told Card Player that to reach the top of the money list he knew he “was going to have to work harder than everybody else, put in more time, effort and just really want it more.” [12]

The 2016 PCA win, after a heads-up match against WSOP Main Event champion Joe McKeehen, was the first seven-figure score of his career. [6] When he won in Monte Carlo the following year, PokerNews reported that he became the first player to win more than one $100,000 or €100,000 super high roller at a PokerStars event. [7]
The 2019 Triton Million
In August 2019, 54 players paid a £1,050,000 buy-in for the Triton Million for Charity in London. When heads-up play began, Kenney held more than five times the chips of Aaron Zang, and the two agreed a deal: Kenney received £16,890,509 (reported by PokerNews as $20,537,187) and Zang £13,779,491. Zang then won the title, but Kenney took the larger share of the money. [11] PokerNews describes it as the largest prize in tournament poker history; other databases convert the same prize to slightly different dollar figures, such as $20,563,324. [1]
World Series of Poker
Kenney won his first bracelet at the 2014 WSOP in Event #63, the $1,500 Six-Handed 10-Game Mix, for $153,220. [4] Ten years later he won his second online, in the 2024 WSOP Online $2,100 Bounty NLH Championship, beating a field of 798 entries for $226,057 including bounties. [5] His WSOP.com profile lists 2 bracelets, 30 final tables, 123 cashes and $22,241,997 in earnings, a total that includes the Triton and GGPoker events shown on that profile. [2] At the 2026 WSOP he finished second in the $250,000 Super High Roller and third in the $50,000 High Roller for $1,041,908. [2]
All-time money list
Kenney first reached the top of The Hendon Mob all-time money list in 2019 after his Aussie Millions win, then lost the lead to Justin Bonomo. [1] The Triton Million put him back in first place: Card Player reported that it raised his career live earnings to $55.7 million. [12] He retook the lead again with the 2023 Luxon Invitational, moving to $64,829,392. [13] He became the first player past $70 million with the 2024 Triton Monte Carlo Main Event, the first past $80 million with a $50,000 min-cash in the 2025 WSOP Paradise Super Main Event, and the first past $90 million with his July 2026 win in Jeju. [14][15][16] According to PokerNews, nearly 40% of his lifetime earnings, about $30 million, came in 2019. [15]
Cheating allegations, 2022
In April 2022, Martin Zamani, a player Kenney had staked, alleged on Twitter and on the Doug Polk Podcast that Kenney ran a stable of online players who colluded, used ghosting and used real-time assistance tools on GGPoker and partypoker. PokerNews noted that Zamani “didn’t bring many receipts” for his claims. [17] Kenney, who confirmed that Zamani had been part of his staking stable, denied the allegations in a 70-minute PokerNews interview a few days later. [18] He stepped aside from tournament play for most of 2022. [15] In 2026 he posted on social media that he had been trying to “take accountability when it needs to be taken”, a message PokerNews linked to the episode. [16] Kenney was previously a GGPoker ambassador. [1]
